Jamie Gold Settles Dispute Over WSOP Winnings

Shortly after winning the WSOP Main Event last summer, Jamie Gold was sued by Hollywood TV producer Bruce Crispin Leyser who claimed Gold owed him half of his $12,000,000 first place winnings. Leyser stated that Gold agreed to split his winnings in exchange for Leyser finding celebrities to play in the Main Event while wearing "Bodog" apparel. A court order in September mandated that half of Gold's winnings remain frozen at the WSOP tournament site.

In December, a US District Court Judge denied a motion by Gold to allow him access to the frozen $6,000,000. After hearing a voicemail saved by Leyser in which Gold promised to pay him "your half," that judge indicated that Leyser would likely win his claim to the money.

Yesterday Gold and Leyser released a joint statement saying the matter should be resolved "without litigation." The statement seems to have put a conclusion to this ongoing debacle, "Jamie and Crispin are happy to report they have fully settled this matter. They are pleased to be closing this chapter and look forward to continued success." It is unclear how much money Leyser will receive.
