Before the final table Event #9 began, there were already 8 WSOP bracelets between the 9 participants. Perry Friedman, who went on to finish 3rd, possessed one bracelet. Cyndy Violette, who also has one WSOP bracelet, finished 2nd.

The man holding the lions share of bracelets, Erik Seidel, went on to win this event, capturing his 7th WSOP bracelet in the process. The poker fans were out in record number to watch the legendary Seidel cut through a field of 1,403 to win the $611,795 first place prize.

For Seidel, this is his 2nd career No Limit Holdem bracelet. He has won a bracelet in five different variants of tournament poker. Many poker fans know of Erik Seidel from his role in the movie Rounders, where he is seen losing to Johnny Chan at the 1987 WSOP. Erik has enjoyed one of the longest and most successful careers as a tournament poker player. With this dominating victory over a gigantic field, he continues to show why many consider him the best all-around tournament player in the world.

Englishman Harry Demetriou played at his 2nd final table of the 2005 WSOP, and finished 6th to take home $123,915. Other notable finishes included; crowd-favorite Marcel Luske 21st, high stakes pro Chau Giang 27th, Dutch Boyd 37th, Michael "the Grinder" Mizrachi 40th, and actor Tobey McGuire finished 54th.
