2005 WSOP Event #20: $5,000 Pot Limit Holdem

, 2005-06-26, by TwoGun

The $5,000 buy-in for Event #20 makes it the most expensive Pot Limit Holdem tournament of the WSOP. With 239 entries, a cool $370,685 was paid to first place finisher, Brian Wilson. Brian was vastly unknown in the poker world before this win. Even against a star studded final table, he was able to outclass the pros and fight his way to the bracelet.

Already with a bracelet from this year's WSOP, Allen Cunningham nearly did it again by finishing 4th in Event #20. He won $89,865 as well as a nice supply of Player of the Year points to put him near the top.

Pro Tony Cousineau finished 5th and won $67,400. Female bracelet winner Cyndy Violette, who was playing at her second final table of this year's WSOP, finished in 7th place to win $44,930. Well known pros David "Devil Fish" Ulliot and Erik Seidel finished 14th and 16th, respectively.
